Vincent van Gogh was a gifted painter. During his relatively short lifetime he had lots of problems. The last year and a half or so his problems escalated. He went to a mental hospital for a year.
He painted during that time off and on during times when he was able to paint. Within about three months after his release he passed away at the age of 37.
